Senior IT direction,
without the headcount.
Fractional IT leadership for Island businesses, one or two days a week. More than twenty-five years running technology estates, applied to yours.
The gap
Most Isle of Man businesses are too small to hire an IT director and too dependent on technology to go without one. So IT direction falls to whoever is nearest: an overloaded engineer, an MSP that answers tickets but does not own outcomes, or the MD at nine o’clock at night.
Meanwhile the demands get sharper every year. Cyber insurance renewals ask you to prove your controls were actually running. Certain government contracts require Cyber Essentials or equivalent controls. Auditors want evidence, not reassurance. Every one of those conversations needs someone senior in the room who speaks both business and technology.
The offer
I own IT direction the way an IT director would: strategy and roadmap, standards and process, vendor and contract management, security posture, budgets, and the honest translation between the board and the technical people. Your team or your MSP keeps doing the doing. I make sure it is the right doing.
It always starts with a diagnostic
A concentrated few weeks, fixed price agreed up front. I assess the people, tooling, risks and spend, put proper standards in place, and leave you a practical 90-day plan your own team can execute. Valuable on its own, whatever happens next.
Then, if it makes sense, a retainer
One or two days a week of ongoing leadership, reviewed quarterly, with clearly scoped projects priced separately. No lock-in beyond the month.
Already have an MSP? Keep them.
Plenty of well-run Island businesses have an IT provider and no one internal who owns that relationship. The contract renews itself, the tickets get answered, and nobody is checking whether the work billed matches the work needed, or whether the controls your insurer thinks you have are actually running.
I sit on your side of the table. I set the standard, review the service, manage the renewal and hold the contract to account, so your provider delivers the right work at the right price. Good providers welcome an informed client. The other kind is the reason you need one.
Who this is for
Owner-managed businesses, regulated firms, charities and practices on the Island, typically 15 to 200 staff. Especially those facing an insurance renewal, a Cyber Essentials requirement, an audit, a system migration, or the creeping feeling that nobody actually owns IT.
Who I am
I have been the engineer, the manager and the person presenting to the board, across banking, insurance, egaming and manufacturing, and I have spent a career being told my handovers are the tidiest people have seen. Corporate discipline, applied at Island scale.

How I work
I use AI tools in my work, openly. They make me faster at producing documents, analysis and plans, which means more of what you pay for goes on judgement rather than typing. AI does the drafting. The thinking, decisions and accountability are mine, and nothing reaches a client without being read, corrected and approved by me.
I work under a written policy: paid, business-grade tools with no-training commitments, strict rules about what client information can and cannot go in, and clear separation between engagements. You can also exclude specific workstreams from AI-assisted delivery entirely.

No hard sell. Just an honest opinion.
The first conversation is a coffee. If what you need is smaller or bigger than me, I will say so and point you somewhere sensible.
